In the 80's he settled in London with his wife Yvonne Bryceland - South Africa's greatest actress.
- "a unique figure in British theatre. Provocative, controversial, doggedly inspiring and fearless in his pursuit of the truth, he empowers and questions with equal passion. Immune to the distractions of pretence, he has been the pivotal teacher, enabler and mentor for me and countless others."  says director of the National Theatre, Rufus Norris
